New Fishing License Requirement

Beginning January 1, 2007 anglers ages 16 years and older using any type of bait or gear to catch finfish while fishing in North Carolina's public waters must possess a valid North Carolina fishing license.  Anglers who receive Food Stamps, Medicaid or Work First Family Assistance may obtain a written waiver from this new fishing license requirement through their county Department of Social Services.

Licenses may be purchased at Reel Bait & Tackle, online at www.ncwildlife.org, or by telephone at 1-888-2HUNTFISH (1888-248-6834).

Fishing Report 11/18/07

Inshore

The trout bite has been the talk of the waters recently, with anglers catching good quality 2-6lb. and quantity of fish.  Live shrimp or finger mullet seems to be bait of choice. Although a mirrolure, D.O.A. and gulp baits have fooled these fish as well.  Inlets, rivers are giving up nice fish as well as grass points around creek mouths.

Fishing Report - 9/28/07

Inshore

Flounder fishing is finally on fire.  We have had nice catches on the nearshore reefs, Cape Fear River and the waterway.  Most of these fish are caught on live finger mullet, but some are being caught on Gulp.
